I’ve always had a love/hate relationship with puffer jackets. Sure, they keep me nice and warm. But that warmth usually comes at the expense of  looking like an overstuffed marshmallow.   Fortunately for me, that all changed when I found this gorgeous jacket a few years back.  I was first drawn to its velvet brocade texture (a welcome departure from the puffers of the plain, black nylon versions that I was used to).  And once I tried it on, it was the dramatic face-framing collar that sealed the deal.  Add a pair of dark oversized sunglasses, and I feel like such a snow-bunny diva whenever I wear this jacket.

Closet Confection: His & Hers

{Hers: J. Crew ‘Lady’ Coat & Skirt, Hanes ComfortBlend Tee in Caribbean Blue, Old Navy Jean Jacket, Arturo Chiang Booties}

As I’ve mentioned previously, my husband is always impeccably dressed and definitely has his own sense of style.  But this weekend (after much bribing with dessert cajoling), he allowed me to pick out his outfit styled around a Hanes ComfortBlend tee (available at Walmart).  His preppy schoolteacher aesthetic usually centers around ties, button-down shirts, and blazers.  So, I took advantage of the opportunity to style him up for a more casual weekend look.  We did make one compromise: a pocket square so that he wouldn’t feel too much out of his element.  All in all, I couldn’t have asked for a more gracious guinea pig for my little experiment, and I think we were both pretty pleased with how the results turned out.

While I was dressing Eric, I got a little curious about how the tees would look on me. I’ve always loved the look of simple t-shirts paired with pencil skirts. So I went with that and added a few extra layers for warmth.  I’m kind of picky when it comes to tees, but I have to say that these were a good bet for around $5 a pop.  They’re soft with a nice amount of stretch, and I love how they aren’t see-through.  I’m partial to v-neck tees myself, so I just may scoop up a 3-pack in white for spring!

 I was selected for this opportunity as a member of Clever Girls Collective and the content and opinions expressed here are all my own.

Closet Confection: Snow Bunny {Faux Shearling Jacket + Leather Leggings}

{Romeo & Juliet Couture Faux Shearling Jacket  (similar), Uniqlo Tunic,  Paige Leather Leggings (more options here), Tommy Hilfiger Scarf + Mittens, Chas Mackenzie  Earmuffs, J. Crew Boots (similar), Junior Drake Handbag}

When there’s this much snow on the ground, all I want to do is curl up under the blankets and watch old Law & Order reruns on Netflix. But alas, I’m a busy city gal with obligations that force me to drag myself out of the house (even on weekends).  Since snuggling up in my pj’s wasn’t a viable option, I decided that leggings and cozy sweatshirt were the next best thing.

The leather paneling on my pants and the streamlined tunic length of my top helped keep me from looking like I was headed to the gym (at least that’s what I told myself). So I’d feel just as confident wearing this outfit to run errands as I would to have a brunch date with my husband.  To beat the chill I bundled up in a faux shearling jacket that’s toasty (but surprisingly lightweight) and a giant nubby scarf.

To all of my peeps in colder climates – how are you guys staying warm during the winter months?
