Nothing like a little sequins for daytime, right?

Our day spent on Prince Edward Island was wonderful, and I honestly can’t wait to go back.  We spent the morning visiting the red cliffs and taking a tour of Green Gables. In the afternoon, we browsed shops and gorged ourselves on ice cream in the quaint downtown area.  I wound up doing a TON of walking on this trip, and I have to say that my trusty red sneakers did not disappoint.  I purchased them a few years back after a nasty sandal malfunction in Central Park, but have since neglected them.  I tossed them into my suitcase at the last minute while packing, and it turned out to be the BEST. DECISION. EVER.

Closet Confection: Halifax

I learned my lesson in Bar Harbor and chose more sensible footwear for the drizzly weather in Halifax.  If you’re ever looking for a flexible, lightweight rain boot to take with you on vacation, I highly recommend the Dav ‘Festival’ style.   They’re sleek enough to wear with skirts and dresses but still roomy enough to tuck in a pair of jeans.  But most importantly, you can easily roll ’em up and stuff them in your suitcase (and did I mention they come in leopard).  I’ve taken them with me on two major trips so far this year, and they haven’t let me down yet.

The first stop on our voyage was beautiful Bar Harbor, Maine.  The weather was grogeous and sunny when we first docked, but quickly turned to thick fog as we headed to Acadia National Park for a mid-morning ocean trail hike.  As you can probably tell from the pics, I didn’t exactly choose the best footwear.  But who can complain about having to romp around barefoot in the sand?! After our scenic trek we strolled around town and ducked into the Thirsty Whale for lobster rolls and clam chowder (and lunch may or may not  have been followed by some serious blueberry pie action).  All in all, I definitely enjoyed my brief stint in Bar Harbor and would gladly return again.
