Truth be told, once I found out I was having a boy, my dreams of adorable mommy and me matching outfits pretty much went out the window… until recently. Color me ecstatic when I was casually perusing the Old Navy website (as one does at 2 o’clock in the morning), and I ran across this matching set. I immediately added this safari print dress and matching romper to my cart, checked out, and finally caught some shut-eye. I was so excited when our outfits finally arrived a few days later. Christian and I wore our matching ensembles for a music playdate and Italian ices in front of the fountain at Lincoln Center – and of course, we just had to do an impromptu photoshoot.

This $18 Dress Will Make You Feel Like a Million Bucks!

Shein Ditsy floral sundress, nyc fashion blogger, closet confections, mommy style blogger, nyc mommy blog{SHEIN Floral Sundress, ZARA Cardigan, & OTHER STORIES Hat (exact dupe), ALDO Earrings (exact dupe), GUCCI Belt, COACH Sandals}

It’s no secret that I’m a gal who likes to occasionally splurge and pamper herself… That being said, there is absolutely NO SHAME in my bargain-hunting game! I recently placed a large emergency sundress order (yes, that’s an actual thing – don’t judge!) on Shein.com, and this pretty little frock was one of my favorites out of the bunch. That being said, don’t be surprised if you see me twirl up on the blog in the pink version soon. And at just 18 bucks a pop, can you really blame me?!

I wore this outfit for a family stroll through Central Park, and it was the perfect thing to wear during this hot, sticky NYC summer. Since I knew we’d be going out to an early dinner beforehand, I paired it with a pair of kitten-heeled sandals and a wide-brimmed hat for a bit of extra drama. But this dress would be equally as cute (and comfy) with a pair of canvas sneakers or flat sandals for running errands around the city with a baby in tow.

About the Fit:
This dress is true-to-size, and the top portion is completely shirred which makes it very flattering for a variety of figures (and bustlines). The dress also comes with a matching self-tie belt. The shoulder straps are adjustable, and you could also tuck them in for a strapless look. If you prefer lighter-colored prints this time of year, this dress also comes in both pink and white floral.

This Dior-Inspired Print from H&M is Seriously SO GOOD!

As soon as I saw this dress hanging on the rack at H&M I just knew I had to have it. Earlier this spring I had the good fortune of perusing Dior’s pop-up shop in the meatpacking district where a similar toile print was featured heavily in the collection. I’m a gal who loves a good designer look for less, so you can only imagine how I excited I was to get my hands on this pretty little frock. I love how the print is bold, yet subtle. But what I really can’t get over is how light and airy it feels. I can already tell it’ll be my go-to piece for those hot and sticky summer days on the horizon.

I recently wore this outfit to an early dinner with the family and paired it with a simple straw hat and matching bag – both enduring summer staples – and one of my favorite pairs of espadrilles that I scooped up for a song last summer on the clearance rack.

About the Fit:
This dress is true-to-size and has a bit of elastic in the waist to give it a decent amount of stretch. The straps are also adjustable, so I’d say it’s hard to go wrong with this one. The just below-the-knee length might be a little tricky for shorter gals (for reference, I’m 5’7″), but nothing a cute pair of heels (and perhaps even a trip to the tailor) can’t fix. What impressed me most is how the buttons don’t gape at the top even with my massive (to me, at least) nursing boobs. There’s even a hidden snap just above the waist for an extra bit of coverage.
