I’ll admit, it took me a while to get down with Madewell. I’ve gone into the store a few times, but always left empty-handed. When I step into a store, I like to be immediately dazzled with bright colors and bold prints. And if you’ve ever been inside of Madewell , then you know that just ain’t happenin’. Long story made short: I wrote the place off as “boring” in my mind and never gave it a fair shot.

As luck would have it, I found myself trapped inside of the Madewell on 5th Avenue one cold rainy day as I waited for the weather to subside. With a full 15 minutes to meander and browse, I found tons of things I liked. I zeroed in on this cute little chiffon dress and couldn’t wait to share my first Madewell purchase with you guys. But of course, life got in the way EVERY SINGLE TIME I wore it in hopes of snapping a few pics for the blog. Either my tights got runs in them or someone (usually me) forgot to put the memory card back in the camera.  And once or twice… GASP… my shoes just weren’t cute enough to do the outfit justice.  So here I am, 3 months later, showing you a dress you can no longer buy.

As I hang my head in fashion blogger shame, I thought I’d at least share with you guys some other goodies I’m itching to try out the next time I pop into Madewell…

My closet was seriously lacking in the LBD department, so I was pretty excited when I scooped this one off the J. Crew sales rack. I love how it can be dressed either up or down, and I can tell it’ll be just perfect for those days when I’m running late and can’t decide what to wear. The weather’s been weird lately (blazing in the sun and frigid in the shade), so I tossed on this cheery red military jacket to add a bit of color to my ensemble.

Other than dipping my toes in the sand for a few days in Hawaii last month, this is my first time wearing sandals this year (these are the ones I wound up getting from the sample sale if you were following along on the ‘gram). Is it just me, or does sandal season always seem to catch you off guard? I fully admit to slacking on my pedicure upkeep during the winter months, so I’m always caught scrambling when it’s time to put away the tights and socks. If you’re ever in the same boat, I HIGHLY recommend Sally Hansen’s Insta-Dri nail polish for a quick and dirty mani/pedi. This stuff takes literally 2 minutes to dry, and it’s been my secret weapon for the past few years.

The temps reached almost 80 degrees today, so I decided to fête the occasion by wearing a bright orange dress and bold fringe accessories. I’ve had this purse for a few yearsso I was stoked to dust it off and pair it with my new fringe sandals.

Speaking of these sandals… aren’t they just so much fun?! And the best part is that they’re super comfortable.

Hahahaha! I kid! Sorry to play with your emotions like that, but these sandals definitely aren’t high on my comfort meter. Don’t get me wrong, they’re totally doable if you’re used to wearing high heels. They’re perfect for when you want to get dressed up for a date or a night out with the girls, but I definitely wouldn’t recommend any major strolling in these. All the same, I plan on getting plenty of wear out of these over the coming months (and will keep a pair of backup flats in my bag, just in case). Ahhh… the things I do for fashion.

So I’d like to know: do you often choose style over comfort when it comes to shoes, or do you favor practicality in your footwear?

P.S. I think it’s pretty clear which team I’m on, lol!
