Fall may officially start tomorrow, but I’m still stuck in a summer state of mind. Is it just me, or does this year seem to be flying by?! I’ll be reluctantly making my fall wardrobe switch over the next couple of weeks, but it’s still so lovely to sit back and reminisce about my trip to Cape Cod earlier this month.

After our EPIC Alaska vacation, I thought we were done traveling for a while. But that was only until I found an amazing deal on JetBlue – just $200 roundtrip for 2 people to fly out of JFK into Cape Cod! We had an amazing time relaxing, chowing down on seafood, and enjoying the Cape in the slightly off-season. The weather was gorgeous, and not nearly as crowded as it is during the height of summer. We stayed at the SeaCoast Inn in Hyannis which was just a 5-minute walk from the ferry port and served as the perfect launching point for day trips to Nantucket and Martha’s Vineyard.

On this particular day, we rented a car and drove up to Provincetown to explore the protected lands of the Cape Cod National Seashore on one of Art’s Dune Tours. We had a fantastic time playing in the sand, learning about the local artist shack residency program, and sampling a few wild berries along the way! I somehow allowed Eric talk me into climbing the 252-foot tower at Pilgrim Monument, but the incredible views up top more than made up for the trek. Afterwards, we settled in for a cozy romantic dinner at The Red Inn before heading back to Hyannis.

More details about the rest of our trip coming up soon!

On the Street with DSW at New York Fashion Week

New York Fashion Week is one of my favorite events that I look forward to each fall – not so much for the fashion shows (although those are great too!), but for the street style. People-watching in the city is already one of my favorite pastimes, so seeing everyone strut their stuff for Fashion Week just takes it up a notch and makes it that much more fun. To get in on this year’s action, I left the office early one day last week and headed over to Moynihan Station with my camera in tow.

For me, Fashion Week is all about having fun and trying out new looks. With that in mind, I went for a groovy retro-inspired print with modern accessories (including these awesome studded pumps from the lovely folks at DSW). Other folks must’ve gotten the memo as well, because right off the bat I noticed a very heavy 70s style influence. Check out those bell bottoms!

I enjoyed rocking various straw hats all summer long, so I was excited to see that exaggerated fedoras were also having a moment. Also, doesn’t it seem like stylish folks rarely travel alone at Fashion Week?! Talk about #SquadGoals!New York Fashion Week Street Style

As for my favorite outfits, there’s nothing I love more than bold colors and prints paired with killer heels. Below are three fashionistas who nailed the look perfectly.New York Fashion Week Street Style

All in all, I had a blast soaking in the atmosphere and chatting with my fellow photogs about the looks we loved. Speaking of which… whose style do you like the most, and what trends are you looking forward to this season? Sound off in the comments below!

Postcards from Alaska: Cruising Glacier Bay

Cruising Glacier Bay - Holland America Oosterdam

After 3 amazing port days in Alaska, Eric and I were pretty much in heaven and didn’t think that things could get much better. At this point we’d gone crab fishing and whale-watching, taken a helicopter to go dog-sledding on top of a glacier, eaten the most amazing seafood, and trekked through the Yukon Territory. By anyone’s standards, we’d had an amazing journey. But as it turned out, we hadn’t seen anything yet!

The last leg of our cruise included scenic sailing through Glacier Bay National Park. Believe me when I tell you how absolutely stunning and awe-inspiring it was to sail through this natural wonder. The day was picture perfect, and we got a front row seat as we watched these beautiful glaciers groan, shake, and eventually break off into the water right before our eyes (a process known as calving).

Rangers from Glacier Bay boarded our ship that morning to debrief everyone on board about what we were going to see, and they remained with us the entire day to narrate our journey through the park.  It was so much fun to roam around the ship the entire day (in between hot cocoa and soup breaks) to take in the breathtaking views all around us. If you ever take an Alaskan Cruise, definitely make sure you pack the right gear for glacier-cruising days (i.e. a warm jacket, hat, and gloves). It gets COLD out there!

Unfortunately, I saw waaaayyyy too many people who couldn’t take the chill and had to keep running back indoors because they didn’t have on the right gear. You can never predict when glaciers are going to calve, so it’s best to stay outside all day to maximize your chances. We sprung for a room with a balcony (which we thoroughly enjoyed!), but I preferred to walk about the ship while sailing through Glacier Bay to make sure we always had the best view.

Speaking of views… keep scrolling through to soak up the sights we saw that day!
