Cozying Up to Maternity Style

Not gonna lie, I went through a rough patch recently in trying to feel inspired while dressing my ever-expanding belly. Shopping is typically one of my favorite pastimes, but let’s be real… in-store maternity fashion is mainly lackluster at best. I mean, just how much ruching and empire waists can a gal take?!

Luckily, I rediscovered my mojo, and I’ve been having more fun with my wardrobe again. This outfit isn’t much – just an oversized sweater that I scored off the clearance rack and some old high-waisted leggings – but the bold bright colors are what made my heart sing. I went all out an even swapped out the boring turquoise laces in my hiking boots for these cheery red ones and dug my matching mittens out of storage. This outfit instantly made me feel cute, cozy and more like myself again.

About the Fit:
This sweater is yet another H&M clearance rack find. It’s a non-maternity size medium, so I can definitely still wear it even after my bump is a distant memory. It’s currently sold out online, but I’ve seen tons of them in stores recently and think it’s a great steal at just $20. I wish it came in more colors (cobalt blue would be so dreamy), because I’d definitely snag another one.

A little camouflage (and a lotta volume) go a long way in helping to keep my growing baby bump under wraps when I need to these days! When I wasn’t quite ready to shout from the rooftops about my pregnancy in the first trimester, outfits like this became my go-to uniform. And the best part is that this ensemble is totally something I would wear even if I wasn’t knocked up!

I’m at the sort of weird stage now where most of my regular clothes no longer fit properly, but I’m not quite ready to dive full-force into the maternity section just yet. In any case, maintaining my personal style throughout pregnancy is very important to me, and helps keep me (somewhat) sane even during those times when I feel like I’ve been invaded by a body-snatcher (albeit a sweet one that I already love to pieces).

About the Fit:
I’ve had these leggings for a few years now, and they’re super high-quality  and oh-so-comfy. I own them in two colors and pack them for just about every vacation, and they’ve held up extremely well throughout lots of adventures. The fit is true-to-size, and they’re substantial enough where you never have to worry about see-through mishaps… even if you have a little extra junk in the trunk!

Pink & Red

I only got into this color combo a few years ago, but I’m totally digging it. Pink and red have been my favorite colors since childhood, but for some strange reason, I never thought to pair them together. In any case, I’m making up for lost time.

I’ve been living in this super cozy oversized sweater dress for the past few weeks with no plans to stop any time soon. It’s sold out online, but if you swing by your location H&M, I’ll be you can find one. I popped into two stores recently, and they still had a number of sizes in stock.

About the Fit
Even though this dress is definitely oversized, I went up a size for extra coziness (and to guard against shrinkage). My husband asked me if I bought the right size, but sometimes boys just don’t get it, lol! As the temps continue to drop, I’ll also be wearing this with leggings and tights for a different look.
