Alaska Travel Diary: Skagway & Yukon Territory

Welcome to the next installation of my Alaska Travel Diary. Our last port-of-call on this trip was beautiful Skagway. The weather was damp and much chillier than the previous day in Juneau. So I layered on my rain jacket, packable down vest, and wellies.

Eric and I were up bright and early. And since our excursion didn’t start until later in the day, we decided to spend the morning doing our own self-guided walking tour. The town was tiny, but super-cute. We later learned from our tour guide that the population is only 1000 people, and the community is extremely tight-knit.

After our morning stroll, it was time to head out on our bus tour of the Yukon Territory.  If you ever do any research about visiting Skagway, then you’ll soon find out that THE major tourist attraction is to take a scenic train ride along the White Pass & Yukon Route. Since our journey would include a long train ride later on in the trip (more about that coming soon!), we opted for the bus ride instead.  Continue Reading
