One staple I couldn’t live without each spring is definitely a classic trench coat. They go with absolutely everything and just make you look so chic and polished no matter what you’re wearing underneath. I picked up this one at Zara over the winter, and I’ve worn it constantly ever since the weather started to turn more springlike.

Eric and I recently packed up the car and headed west for a road trip to visit my family in Detroit. We took the scenic route and stopped for lunch in the cute little town of Stroudsburg, PA in the Poconos on the way there. The weather was gorgeous, but there was still a bit of a chill in the air, so I layered up with a Saint James turtleneck and my trusty fedora.

I love this sweater so much, but there’s really only a 2-4 week period out of the year that a short-sleeve sweater actually makes sense. Oh well, might as well have fun while it lasts!

If you’ve been hanging out here for a while, then you know that I love simple, classic styles with a bit of a twist. This striped shirtdress that I picked up a few years back fits the bill perfectly, and it’s a piece that I reach for again and again each spring. The contrasting stripes, pockets, and drop-waist make it a little more special than your basic shirtdress. And I love the fact that I can dress it up for the office with a blazer and heels, or wear it casually as I did here with ankle boots and a fedora.
