Columbus Circle {Zara Trench Coat + Asos Sweater Dress}

Hope you all had a wonderful Thanksgiving!

After a long weekend of binging on turkey and sweet potato pie, the last thing I wanted to do is squeeze into a pair of skinny jeans. So instead I reached way back into my closet for this swingy sweater dress that I’ve had for years. The bow keeps it festive, but the loose fit means I can keep my food baby under wraps for at least another day.

I paired this look with my two favorite accessories of the moment. The first being this adorable beret that I just couldn’t resist as soon as I saw the bow on the back. And last, but definitely not least, these gorgeous yet super comfy block-heeled mary janes with a colorful graphic print.

The Best $20 I Ever Spent {H&M Chenille Sweater + Red Ankle Boots}

how to wear red ankle boots, nyc fashion blog, closet confections{UNIQLO Coat (similar), H&M Chenille Sweater (only $20!) + Tassel Earrings (favorite earrings EVER!), ZARA Brocade Leggings, VINTAGE Red Beret, RALPH LAUREN Bucket Bag, VALENTINO, Sunglasses, MISS SELFRIDGE Red Ankle Boots}

If I look super-geeked in the above photo, it’s because I was pretty excited about this outfit. It’s full of all the things I love:

  1. Let’s start with this ahh-ma-zing chenille sweater I scooped up at H&M recently for just $20. If you follow me on the ‘gram (and if you don’t, I forgive you), then you may have caught my celebratory boomerang shimmy when I first bought it.
  2. My absolute favorite earrings – Seriously, I have these in three colors already, and I’m patiently awaiting my 4th pair to arrive in the mail. I get TONS of compliments whenever I wear them.
  3. This Ralph Lauren bucket bag is a life-saver on the weekends. It’s compact, yet large enough to hold all of my essentials, including my huge DSLR camera which can be a pain to lug around. I’ve had this black one for two years, and I purchased a gorgeous caramel version earlier this year.
  4. These red ankle boots are a new addition to my wardrobe, and I feel so sassy whenever I wear them. They also have a chunky heels which makes them perfect for pounding the pavement.

About the Fit:
This chenille sweater is officially my jam, and I’ve already decided I’m gonna get it in more colors. And at just $20 a pop, can you really blame me? It’s the perfect cropped length that makes it easy to wear with pants and skirts. I really love how it’s boxy, yet still feminine because of the slightly ballooned sleeves. This gorgeous red color is so cheery and festive that I know it’ll be a staple over the holidays. No ugly Christmas sweaters for me this year!

Uniqlo x J.W. Anderson

{UNIQLO X J.W. ANDERSON Sweater & Scarf, FOREVER 21 Skirt, AMERICAN APPAREL Clutch, SALVATORE FERRAGAMO Sunglasses, J. CREW ‘Elsie’ Pumps}

Uniqlo is hands-down one of my favorite places to shop for quality basics, so I was super stoked when they announced their partnership with J.W. Anderson. Unlike the frenzies associated with a lot of high profile designer collaborations with lower-priced retailers, for some reason  the Uniqlo/J.W. collab was pretty low key. Whatever the reason, I wasn’t complaining as I was able to snatch up the two pieces I’d had my eye on with no problem at all. As soon as I saw this sweater and scarf combo online, I knew I had to have them in my wardrobe. The colors are so bright and bold, and they just bring a smile to my face whenever I wear them together.

About the Fit:
Believe it or not, this is a men’s sweater. I went with a medium for more of  relaxed feel that I can also wear untucked with jeans. There’s also a turtleneck version for women if rocking a boyfriend style isn’t your thing. The scarf is a really warm and cozy and made from a high-quality knit. Overall, I was thoroughly impressed with the Uniqlo x J.W. Anderson collection and would highly recommend it. There’s still quite a bit of pieces in stock, and I’m seriously considering going back for this reversible trench.
