‘Tis the season for stepping out in style! Truth be told, I never really need an excuse to dress up. But I still find myself getting a little more festive with my outfit choices this time of year. Fire engine red accessories added the perfect burst of color to this houndstooth cape dress – which is the perfect transitional piece from a day at the office to a holiday cocktail party afterward.

Seriously, as soon as I saw it online, I knew I had to have it. It’s such a unique piece and very versatile. I love that I can also layer it with a sleek black turtleneck underneath when the temps dip below freezing. I felt so ladylike while wearing it, and it gives off a definite vintage vibe while still being quite modern.
ABOUT THE FIT:
This dress runs true-to-size (and comes in plus size!). I went up a size, but I actually wish that I hadn’t because the waist is a bit too big for me. I had an event in mind for this dress, so I decided to just keep and cinch the belt a little tighter around the waist. I love it so much that I may even shell out a few bucks to have it taken in.
