Uniqlo x J.W. Anderson

{UNIQLO X J.W. ANDERSON Sweater & Scarf, FOREVER 21 Skirt, AMERICAN APPAREL Clutch, SALVATORE FERRAGAMO Sunglasses, J. CREW ‘Elsie’ Pumps}

Uniqlo is hands-down one of my favorite places to shop for quality basics, so I was super stoked when they announced their partnership with J.W. Anderson. Unlike the frenzies associated with a lot of high profile designer collaborations with lower-priced retailers, for some reason  the Uniqlo/J.W. collab was pretty low key. Whatever the reason, I wasn’t complaining as I was able to snatch up the two pieces I’d had my eye on with no problem at all. As soon as I saw this sweater and scarf combo online, I knew I had to have them in my wardrobe. The colors are so bright and bold, and they just bring a smile to my face whenever I wear them together.

About the Fit:
Believe it or not, this is a men’s sweater. I went with a medium for more of  relaxed feel that I can also wear untucked with jeans. There’s also a turtleneck version for women if rocking a boyfriend style isn’t your thing. The scarf is a really warm and cozy and made from a high-quality knit. Overall, I was thoroughly impressed with the Uniqlo x J.W. Anderson collection and would highly recommend it. There’s still quite a bit of pieces in stock, and I’m seriously considering going back for this reversible trench.

Not So Skinny Mini {Embroidered Mini Dress + Ankle Boots}

I’ve been partial to midi and knee-length dresses and skirts for the past few seasons, but every now and then a gal’s gotta show off her gams! I spotted a woman wearing this dress on the subway platform a while back, but the train arrived before I had a chance to get the details. So color me ecstatic when I found it at Zara less than a week later. I snatched it up without hesitation and have gotten so many compliments on it. It’s basically like wearing a big cozy sweatshirt, and I’m loving it.

About the Fit
The fit of this dress is boxy and oversized and a bit of a departure from the typical silhouettes I wear. But I think it’s a nice counterbalance given the shorter hemline. The drop shoulders also give it a casual vibe, while the rich embroidery elevates the look and gives the garment more of a luxe feel.  The material is pretty substantial, so I’ll be wearing this one with tights or leggings throughout the season.

Little Black Jumpsuit

piped cardigan, tailored jumpsuit, nyc fashion blogger, closet confections{ZARA Cardigan (old; also bought this one), H&M Jumpsuit (similar) and Flats, RALPH LAUREN Hat & Bag, PRADA Sunglasses}

Just about every fashion magazine extols the virtues of the Little Black Dress, but what about the Little Black Jumpsuit?

I purchased this one almost two years ago on a whim, and since then I’ve added at least three different variations to my wardrobe. I love how they can be styled for the office with a blazer or cardigan and sensible shoes. But once 5 o’clock hits, I can swap out my shoes for a killer pair of stilettos and slip on a pair of bold statement earrings to hit the town.

I truly believe that everyone could benefit from this fun wardrobe staple, so I’ve rounded up a bunch of styles below that’ll be perfect for the upcoming holiday season.

About the Fit:
Not gonna lie, jumpsuits can be super tricky! I steered clear of them at first until I found a silhouette that works for me. I find that a tailored look in my jumpsuits and a tapered leg that hits just above the ankle works best on my frame. This one is perfectly nipped in the waist, and I had the side pockets sewn shut to eliminate gaping at the hips and provide a smoother silhouette. It’s an easy alteration that does wonders.
