I haven’t been blue at all this holiday season, but I have been extremely tired.  And this was the perfect casual outfit for ripping and running around the city to make last-minute Christmas preparations.  You may have noticed that I become quite fond of vests as of late. Winter has been pretty mild here so far (at least for this Michigander who laughs in the face of anything above 32 degrees), so I’ve been quite comfortable exercising my right to bare arms.

Closet Confection: Grape Stripes

I’ve been on a bit of a blogging hiatus since my camera’s been in the shop, but I missed you guys so much that I finally dug up my old point-and-shoot and snapped a few quick pics.  Not too shabby, right?

Believe it or not, my office is still inoperable due to damage sustained during Hurricane Sandy.  Since I’ve been working from home for the past month, I’ve definitely been favoring the more casual pieces in my wardrobe.  I’ll be honest, it’s very tempting to just crawl up on the couch and work in my jammies all day.  But the super cozy combination of legging pants from Uniqlo and this soft cardigan that I’ve had for several years is the next best thing (especially once I swap out the heels for the warmest/comfiest socks ever).

Closet Confection: All Buttoned Up

So the bad news is that in the middle of this photoshoot, my camera died on me.  It literally just shut off and refuses to turn on anymore.  The good news is that I have a warranty… and I almost never buy warranties.  It’ll be a few weeks before it’s fixed, so I’ll have to figure out an alternative solution for taking photos in the mean time.

Now onto the shoes…

Aren’t they spectacular?!  They were the first thing my eyes were drawn to when I first saw the Maison Martin Margiela x H&M collection.  The transparent lucite heel is beyond cool, but the shoes do have one little flaw (at least for an introvert like me).  The flaw is that they are such conversation starters!  Seriously, I got stopped repeatedly by people asking me about them.  That took me by surprise as I’ve seen some pretty outrageous getups in New York City, and people rarely even bat an eye.
