I finally made the spring wardrobe switch last weekend, and amongst other hidden treasures I found this romper that I haven’t worn in ages.  I’ve tried and failed with rompers a few times in the past.  But since I’m always up for a fashion challenge, I decided to give it another go.  The key for making rompers work for me is to stick with ones that have a relaxed fit, defined waist and narrow leg opening (elastic cuffs are even better).  Anything with a wide or flared leg tends to look ridiculous on me.  But I think this one works, plus it’s super-comfortable!

Closet Confection: Put a Bird on It {Printed Pencil Skirt}

True story: I bought this skirt last year after having one too many glasses of wine at an after-work cocktail party on a whim and never actually got around to wearing it.  As it turns out, a neon green pencil skirt with purple parrots wasn’t as versatile as I thought it would be, and I had absolutely nothing in my wardrobe to pair with it.  Who would’ve thunk?!

As luck would have it, I chanced upon a this top at my home-away-from-home on the clearance rack.  It turned out to be a match made in heaven.  And now my skirt gets to see the light of day.

Closet Confection: Black & White

I wore pretty much the exact same outfit back in 2011, and I love it just as much now as I did back then.  And whoa nelly… can you believe I’ve had this F21 blouse for going on 6 years now?!  Hmmmph, “throwaway fashion”, my right heel!

This time around, I resisted the urge to mix in bright red accessories (although I did cave a little with the lipstick) and instead played up the bold graphic simplicity of this ensemble.  In any case, I’m pretty pleased with how this look came together.
