Just Call Me Mellow Yellow

I never thought yellow would become one of my favorite go-to colors, but I find myself drawn to it recently. I can’t help but feel happy and put an extra little pep in my step whenever I’m wearing such a cheery hue. With fall on the horizon, I’ve been stalking the clearance at all my favorite retailers and scooping up tons of crazy deals on end-of-summer merchandise. This dress and these shoes were my most recent finds, and I’m getting as much wear as I can out of them before they get put in storage.

All Giggles in Gingham

I had so much fun twinning with Christian recently that I couldn’t resist doing it again. This time our outfits came from two different stores (and were purchased almost two years apart). I got this dress two summers ago from Old Navy. And when I ran across this adorable gingham romper on Carter’s website, I just knew it was a match made in heaven.

This Little Red Dress from H&M Makes Me Feel Like One Hot Tamale!

H&M Little Red Dress, NYC Fashion Blogger, Closet Confections{H&M Dress, VALENTINO Sunglasses, ALDO Earrings, FOREVER 21 Hat, J. CREW Sandals & Bag}

There’s just nothing like a little red dress to make a gal feel GOOD! I love that this one is so light and breezy, which makes it perfect to wear during these dog days of summer. New York City has been hot, sticky (and a little bit gross) these past few weeks – so I’ve been relying on simple (but still chic) outfits like this to get me through without looking like a (literal) hot mess. I wore this outfit recently for brunch and a bit of window-shopping in midtown. Since I didn’t want to fuss with accessories, I went with a no-brainer monochromatic look. This outfit was definitely a show-stopper while still being relatively simple, and I’m in love with how it turned out.

ABOUT THE FIT:
This dress is true-to-size and doesn’t have much structure, so you could possibly even size down if you like. I’ve had a few dresses like this before that hit above the knee, but I’m digging the midi-length here for a more casual. This dress also comes with a self-tie belt which I removed for maximum volume. I think adding a wide belt and high heels could help this look easily transition to evening.
