It’s FINALLY starting to feel like fall around these parts, and I’m so excited. I haven’t jumped on the Pumpkin Spiced Latte bandwagon quite yet, but I did enjoy dusting off my boots and leather jacket for a little romping around the city this weekend. Can I tell you guys how excited I am that the 70s trend is in full swing this season?! I usually sit by on the sidelines while fashion trends come and go, but this one has my full support! I missed the 70s by a smidge (80s baby over here, lol!), but I think this style era is my secret spirit animal. When I spotted this dress at H&M a few weeks ago, I had to have it. Yes, it kinda looks like my granny’s old sofa, but that’s what I love about it! Since the dress makes quite the statement on it’s own, I decided to pair it with simple accessories, like these earrings and bracelet I received on loan from Rocksbox.

What’s Rocksbox, you say?

Rocksbox is a premium jewelry subscription service that gives you unlimited access to rent from an ever-rotating closet of designer jewelry! Think of it like Netflix for accessories! Each package contains 3 pieces of designer jewelry, worth an average of $200 per set, and you can exchange your Rocksbox set anytime and as often as you like.

The cost is normally $19/month, but as a lovely reader of mine, you can get your first month FREE with code closetconfectionsxoxo!

Exploring Nantucket {Ralph Lauren Striped Dress + Chanel Espadrilles}

It seemed like a good idea…

Take the morning ferry over to Nantucket, have a relaxing breakfast at Island Kitchen, and then rent a couple of bikes for a leisurely ride up to ‘Sconset and back. Well, if a hot, sweaty 20-mile roundtrip journey uphill qualifies as leisurely, then we accomplished our goal! But seriously, exploring Nantucket was beautiful and charming, but we got in way over our heads with the bike ride. Luckily, we made it and lived to tell about it. After heading back to the harbor to return our rental bikes, we had a lovely time window-shopping in town and checking out the Whaling Museum. We had fully recuperated by evening (although still a bit sore) and enjoyed a delicious candlelit dinner at Ventuno’s followed by dessert and cocktails at American Seasons.

Fall Harvest Dinner Party, Featuring Smirnoff Moscow Mules

Since Labor Day often signals the unofficial end of summer in most people’s minds, I decided to fête the occasion by inviting a few close friends over for an intimate fall harvest dinner party! Most of us were still in shorts and tees since it’s been so hot out. But I just cranked up the A/C, and we all had a blast.

One of my favorite aspects of party planning is coming up with the perfect menu to set the theme.  This time around I consulted my Fall Recipes Pinterest Board for inspiration and decided on Creamy Garlic Spaghetti Squash, Apple Stuffed Chicken Breasts, Homemade Cheddar Biscuits, and of course, the perfect comfort drink to wash everything down…

Next came setting the perfect table to really capture the spirit of the event. I already had the plaid napkins from my picnic set and a rich burgundy colored table-cloth that I use around the holidays. So I just picked up a fresh autumn bouquet that I arranged in mason jars and these adorable baby pumpkins and squash that I used as placecards.

One of the keys to being a good hostess is NOT spilling drinks on anyone’s shoes! I may or may not have passed that test…

In any case, my fall twists on Moscow Mules were a BIG hit, so I’m happy to share the recipes with you guys as well… Continue Reading
