For the next leg of our journey, it was off to Venice!
{H&M Dress, LV Handbag, Born ‘Cady’ Boots}
By now, I’m sure you’ve noticed a theme with my packing. Easy knit dresses in neutral colors and prints. I used to be really averse to animal prints, but I now I pretty much live in them. Also, these Born ‘Cady’ boots are da bomb! I stomped all over Italy in these things, and my feet stayed comfy all day.
I knew ahead of time that there are no cars in Venice. But stepping out of the train station and immediately walking out onto the Grand Canal was still a little surreal. Fortunately, we quickly got scooped up by a private water taxi and beelined for our hotel.
Check out the view from the back of our taxi!
Hangin’ outside our hotel, the Palazetto Madonna. The rooms were on the small side, but what they lacked in size they more than made up for in charm and excellent customer service.
MORE PICS FROM THE REST OF OUR JOURNEY AFTER THE JUMP!
Oh, and did I mention they stocked the bathroom with Hermès products?!
Another traveling tip for you: If your hair is anything like mine and tends to become unpredictable in different climates, always pack a trusty hat (or two, or three).
Our hotel arranged a private tour of a glass factory on Murano island for us, and it was cool to see a “master” perform a glass-blowing demonstration. The only thing that could have made it better is if pizza had come out of that oven as well!
And I just couldn’t resist adding another member to my arm party. I’m not big on souvenirs, but I do try to pick up at least one piece of jewelry to commemorate all of my travels. My new bracelet is made of handmade glass beads and will be a wonderful keepsake for years to come.
I’m preeeeety sure the locals don’t wear them, but these little tourist traps, ahem, mask shops were EVERYWHERE.
I tried to resist these pastry shop display cases for as long as I could, but I finally broke down and had a ciambelle… SO GOOD!
Clowning around in a recreation of one of Leonardo’s inventions at the Da Vinci Museum.
At the Correr Museum.
I still can’t get over the fact that everyone gets around by boat there. Can you imagine going to work like this everyday?!
Lunch on the go! We found this amazing hole-in-the-wall pasta factory that cranks out delicious pints of awesomeness. One of the best meals we had in Venice.
looks like you guys had a fabulous vacation!! and can i just say that you have the best dressed husband? how handsome!!
