Sydney turned out to be very chill and laid back, but we managed to get a little bit of excitement in during our visit to the Fortress Louisburg where we stepped back in time to the 18th century.   In between the gun smoke and wild-goose chases, we got a thorough history lesson and enjoyed exploring our surroundings.

Nothing like a little sequins for daytime, right?

Our day spent on Prince Edward Island was wonderful, and I honestly can’t wait to go back.  We spent the morning visiting the red cliffs and taking a tour of Green Gables. In the afternoon, we browsed shops and gorged ourselves on ice cream in the quaint downtown area.  I wound up doing a TON of walking on this trip, and I have to say that my trusty red sneakers did not disappoint.  I purchased them a few years back after a nasty sandal malfunction in Central Park, but have since neglected them.  I tossed them into my suitcase at the last minute while packing, and it turned out to be the BEST. DECISION. EVER.

Closet Confection: Halifax

I learned my lesson in Bar Harbor and chose more sensible footwear for the drizzly weather in Halifax.  If you’re ever looking for a flexible, lightweight rain boot to take with you on vacation, I highly recommend the Dav ‘Festival’ style.   They’re sleek enough to wear with skirts and dresses but still roomy enough to tuck in a pair of jeans.  But most importantly, you can easily roll ’em up and stuff them in your suitcase (and did I mention they come in leopard).  I’ve taken them with me on two major trips so far this year, and they haven’t let me down yet.
