Things have been quiet on the blog lately as I’ve been off gallivanting in Hawaii for the past week or so. I know, I know… my life is so hard! But seriously, it’s been awesome to get away for some rest, relaxation, and much needed sunshine. My husband and I are also celebrating our 10-year anniversary (I CANNOT believe it’s been that long!). Stay tuned for more pics from my trip and a full vacation recap coming your way soon.

In the mean time, can we talk about my new bathing suit and how it makes me look like I actually have a waistline?! Trust me, I don’t… especially after a long hard winter full of lots of hot chocolate and macaroni and cheese. Optical illusions aside, I’m completely in love with it. It’s been years since I’ve worn a one-piece, and now I might be a convert. I also picked up a couple of these cute little kimonos from Forever 21 to wear as coverups, and I can’t wait to pick out a few more for summer.

Thrills, Chills and Spills {A Mount Snow, Vermont Travel Diary}

mount-snow-7

To kick off the new year, Eric and I recently headed to Mount Snow in Vermont for a fun-filled ski weekend. Below are some pics we snapped along the way.

I’ve been skiing a handful of times before, but this was my first experience taking actual lessons. Usually I just fumble my way up and down the bunny slopes. Learning proper skills and techniques definitely helped my confidence (if not my coordination) on the slopes.

After a while, I even started to look like I knew what I was doing.  Ok, maybe not so much, but at least I was able to avoid running into things (and small children).

And just when I started to get cocky, THIS happened.

Don’t worry, that’s not me on the stretcher! However, this wasn’t exactly a comforting image to see as I contemplated going higher up the mountain. Fortunately, this skier turned out to be ok. But Eric and I both decided that we’d had enough of the slopes at this point, so we put our skis away in favor of a hot cocoa break and something a little less strenuous…

Snow Tubing!

All Thrills + No Skills = Right Up My Alley!

But seriously, we had a grand ol’ time whizzing down the hill in our inflatable tubes.

Vermont is absolutely beautiful this time of year, and now I can totally relate to why Fitz and Olivia seem to love it so much (yes, I just revealed one of my guilty pleasures). I can’t wait to go back and get some more use out of my new ski gear. Speaking of which…

Stay tuned for an upcoming post that offers tips for newbies on how to pack for a ski weekend!

Just a few more snaps from Philly.  On this day, we set out to explore various historic landmarks around the city. Our first stop was the Liberty Bell followed by a walk through Independence Hall. I was pretty much a nerdy, straight-A student growing up, but history was always one of my least favorite subjects. I was always bored to tears learning about old men in funny hats and powdered wigs spouting quotes and drafting long drawn-out documents. Fortunately, I’ve developed a greater appreciation for learning about the past as I’ve gotten older.  Eric fell asleep during a short film we watched about the events leading up to the American Revolution, but I genuinely found it fascinating.

I wore this exact outfit during a recent ski trip, and I liked it so much that I packed it again for my trip to Philly. This is seriously one of the coziest sweaters I own, and you can bet it’ll be in major rotation all season long as the temps continue to plummet.  In fact, I was able to wear it without a jacket in upstate New York last week when I layered one of these underneath.
