On this first day of 2017, I have a little confession to make…

I used to HATE setting New Year’s Resolutions! They just always seemed so contrived, and I’d usually abandon them before the month of January was even out. In any case, I must be getting soft in my old age because I’ve recently had a change of heart and have decided to make a few resolutions for the first time in many years.

In this video, I share with you my Top 4 New Year’s Resolutions, plus my action plan for making them happen. I’m applying the philosophy of S.M.A.R.T. goal-setting which stands for Smart, Measurable, Actionable, Realistic, and Timely. Recently, I found myself on the road for a business trip with my photographer (aka husband) left behind. Rather than skip a few days of outfit post, I decided to bring along my tripod and remote and get back to early blogging roots. Way back when, I used to sneak out during my lunch break to find a secluded corner in Manhattan’s financial district to take take my own blog photos. Those were fun times, and it definitely helped me develop a high threshold for embarrassment. But I digress…

For this particular session, I decided to challenge myself by shooting indoors. Luckily, my hotel room was flooded by afteroon sunlight which made my job a lot easier. Which brings me to the first of my Top 4 Tips for Better Self-Portaits:

{Nifty-Thrifty} CC’s Guide to Thrift Store Shopping In Manhattan

I’m definitely a lady who enjoys the finer things in life… However, that doesn’t mean I like to break the bank.  Au contraire!  In fact, most of my best finds have been procured from one of three places: the clearance rack, eBay, or the thrift store.  Over the years, I’ve gotten a few emails from inquiring minds who’d like to know my favorite shopping destinations in NYC.  And since thrift stores are ALWAYS at the top of my lists of recommendations, I thought I’d share the wealth with the rest of you readers should you ever find yourself in my neck of the woods.

I find thrift store shopping in Manhattan to be somewhat of a sport, so I’ll usually spend an entire afternoon pounding the pavement and bouncing around to half a dozen shops or more all in one go. Below are my two favorite thrift store shopping routes to follow when I feel the urge NOT to splurge!
