A Tasty Little Snack: Homemade Cheeze-Its

I typically don’t keep much junk food in the house, but I recently stumbled across a recipe for homemade cheeze-its and couldn’t wait to test them out for myself. These turned out great, and I don’t think I’ll be returning to the store-bought version any time soon! As an added bonus, here are some grocery coupons to possibly save on homemade Cheez-its ingredients.

Ingredients

  • 1 cup all-purpose flour
  • 8 oz. shredded sharp cheddar cheese
  • 4 tablespoons cold butter
  • 3/4 teaspoon salt
  • 1/4 teaspoon paprika
  • 1/4 teaspoon cayenne pepper (I didn’t have any cayenne pepper on-hand, so I just used crushed red pepper flakes)

A Sweet Little Recipe: Chocolate Chip Almond Cookies

As I’ve previously shared, baking is not my strong suit in the kitchen… but I’m working on it.  Right now, I’m on a mission to find a fantastic chocolate chip cookie recipe.  So far, all of my attempts have fallen flat… literally.  But on a more positive note, my endeavors have led me to discover this yum-azing almond chocolate chip cookie recipe.  It’s what I’ve turned to after many of my failed cookie fiascoes.  Served with a glass of ice cold milk, they’re a delicious treat right before bed!

Ingredients

  • 1/2 cup sliced almonds
  • 1 stick unsalted butter, softened
  • 1 cup granulated sugar
  • 1 large egg
  • 1 cup almond butter
  • 1 1/2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 tsp baking soda
  • 1/2 tsp kosher salt
  • 3 oz dark chocolate (60% cacao), chopped into 1-inch pieces

Thanksgiving Dinner for Two

Growing up, Thanksgiving always meant a huge feast that took the entire day to prepare (and several hours to eat).  Now that it’s just hubby and me, I’ve managed to pare down our menu considerably.  For starters, I forgo the whole turkey in favor of a turkey breast. And instead of an endless buffet of side dishes, I stick to just two of our favorites each year.  Below are some pics and recipes from our humble but delicious meal for two (which easily could have served four if we were willing to forgo leftovers).
