Eric and I recently got back from our babymoon in Charleston, and I couldn’t have asked for a better trip. The temps hovered in the mid-70s the entire time, so I was glad that I stocked up on pretty little sundresses like the one above before leaving New York. I’ve finally gotten to the point in my pregnancy where strangers can tell there’s a bun in the oven – not just a lunch baby, ha! While I’m ecstatic to finally show off my bump, I’m less than thrilled at the prospect of spending a ton on maternity outfits.

Luckily, Old Navy came through to the rescue with a 40% off sale and a copious amount of darling dresses that’ll hopefully carry me through my third trimester and beyond. I paired this floral midi dress with a simple straw tote and two-tone loafers for a dose of comfy southern preppy style.

About the Fit:
I sized up to an XL in this frock to accommodate my ever-expanding waistline (and bosom!). But if you’re not knocked up, your regular size should do just fine. The back is elasticized for comfort and fit, and it’s really hard to go wrong with this one. I love how the midi-length hits just below the knee on my 5’7″ frame. The dress comes in multiple colors and prints in-store, and I’m definitely going back for the yellow floral version as soon as another 40% off sale comes around.

Hey peeps!

As you can see, I’ve stepped out of my favored second-trimester uniform of slouchy sweaters and into this flowy floral maxi dress instead. The empire waist is a perfect fit for my growing belly, and I think I’ll be on the hunt now for more dresses in this style. Hey… if ain’t broke, then don’t try to fix it!

Not gonna lie, I went through a rough patch recently in trying to feel inspired while dressing my ever-expanding belly. Shopping is typically one of my favorite pastimes, but let’s be real… in-store maternity fashion is mainly lackluster at best. I mean, just how much ruching and empire waists can a gal take?!

Luckily, I rediscovered my mojo, and I’ve been having more fun with my wardrobe again. This outfit isn’t much – just an oversized sweater that I scored off the clearance rack and some old high-waisted leggings – but the bold bright colors are what made my heart sing. I went all out an even swapped out the boring turquoise laces in my hiking boots for these cheery red ones and dug my matching mittens out of storage. This outfit instantly made me feel cute, cozy and more like myself again.

About the Fit:
This sweater is yet another H&M clearance rack find. It’s a non-maternity size medium, so I can definitely still wear it even after my bump is a distant memory. It’s currently sold out online, but I’ve seen tons of them in stores recently and think it’s a great steal at just $20. I wish it came in more colors (cobalt blue would be so dreamy), because I’d definitely snag another one.
