They say the fifth time’s the charm! Every year, on the day after Thanksgiving, I indulge my husband by donning an ensemble in his favorite plaid and taking pictures to commemorate the occasion (as evidenced here, here, here, and here). I’ve amassed quite the little black watch plaid collection over the years, and this dress just might be my favorite. I decided to play up the retro flair with a jaunty beret and vintage coat. We wound up liking our looks so much, that we made the bottom family pic our official holiday card!

Whenever my wardrobe leaves me uninspired (which happens more often than I’d like to admit), a failproof style I always reach for is a head-to-toe monochromatic look like this one. It’s surprisingly fresh and modern and leaves lots of room for accessories and textures to take center stage.
