Whenever my wardrobe leaves me uninspired (which happens more often than I’d like to admit), a failproof style I always reach for is a head-to-toe monochromatic look like this one. It’s surprisingly fresh and modern and leaves lots of room for accessories and textures to take center stage.

A quick search through my archives alerted me to the fact that I haven’t worn a proper sweatshirt on the blog since 2015. Truth be told, sweatshirts are right up there with flip flops, band tees and Uggs on my list of things that I left pretty much behind in college. But alas, since motherhood already has me pulling all-nighters like it was sophomore year all over again – I figured I might as well be cozy while doing it. So here I am fully embracing mom style with not just a sweatshirt, but leggings and sneakers to boot!
As I slowly transition out of maternity leave, I’ve been working from home more and more these days. I wore this ensemble for an afternoon walk with my little bambino and a quick pit stop at a local cafe. I had a few moments to spare, so I added a cute red beret, jaunty neckerchief, and a swipe of my favorite red lipstick before heading out.

Growing up in Michigan, apple picking was always one of my favorite fall past times. Just the memory of the smell and taste of hot apple cider and warm donuts is enough to make my mouth water. This year, we headed up to Hicks Orchard in the Adirondacks to take our pick of sweet honeycrisp apples. As usual, I picked waaayyyy too many apples. So over the past two weeks, I’ve made apple pie, apple crisp, apple cider, and apple butter. You’d think I’d be sick of apples by now, there’s nothing like enjoying your own freshly picked fruit.
Since the weather was still cool and damp from a thunderstorm earlier in the day, I opted for new plaid raincoat and my trusty rubber chelsea boots. Wearing more than one plaid at a time used to give me pause, but now it’s one of my favorite looks. The trick is to make sure colors complement each other, and that the size of the plaids are similar in scale.
