Oddly enough, I’ve steered pretty clear of the “statement” necklace trend (save a few chunky pearl strands here and there). Bold, blingy, colorful jewels aren’t typically my thing. But perhaps this holiday season has left me craving a bit more sparkle than usual, because this lovely piece of bijoux immediately caught my eye as I brisked past the display case. The colors sung to me, and I immediately knew I’d pair it with this frock.

I first spied this dress at J. Crew a few weeks ago and was immediately smitten, but not enough to make the plunge right then and there (mostly because I loathe paying full price for anything). I took a gamble that it would eventually hit the sales rack. Not only did that gamble pay off in spades, but I also got an additional 30% off. Score!
It’s a very ladylike piece, so I decided to go full on retro glam with a plaid cape, elbow-length gloves, and wool beret.
