I’ve been on the hunt for the perfect cricket sweater for at least 2-3 years, but I’ve always come up empty-handed.  In my mind, THE ONE would come in a creamy cableknit wool with red and navy trim and slightly puffed shoulders.  As my search continues, I’ve managed to tide myself over with this adorable sweater dress I plucked from the clearance rack at Century 21 a few months ago. I decided to venture into full-blown preppy territory with my ensemble by adding a crested blazer and my much-treasured espadrilles that I purchased while on vacation in Madrid.  And of course, my personal habadasher (aka my husband) refused to let me leave the house without a proper pocket square to match.

I’ll still be scouring eBay, Etsy, and various vintage shops for a proper cricket sweater, but this fun little dress will certainly do for now. And if push comes to shove, I also have my eye on a few of these more modernized options below.

Thanks, for reading!

Closet Confection: Goody Two Shoes {Peter Pan Collar Dress + Mary Jane Shoes}

Grey Peter Pan Collar Dress
Red Doonney and Bourke Purse
Red Patent Leather Mary Janes
{J. Crew Peter Pan Collar Dress (similar here and here) & Belt, Dooney & Bourke Purse via TJ Maxx, Zara Shoes}

This is hands-down one of my favorite dresses for work.  I love the subtle playfulness that the peter pan collar exudes. The first time I wore it on the blog was with pink and grey accessories.  This time around, I decided to go with red accents.  I got tons of compliments throughout the day, so I must’ve been on to something!

{Liberty of London x Target Top, H&M Pleated Midi Skirt, Forever 21 Ring & Bangles, Dooney & Bourke Tote, Joe Fresh Shoes}

I’ve always been into ladylike dressing, and today’s outfit is pretty representative of my work uniform as of late: a pretty blouse (bonus points for frilly details like a ruffle or floral print… or BOTH!), a pleated midi skirt, and prissy shoes to match.

If you follow me on Instagram, you know that I picked these wonderful shoes at Joe Fresh for a song in the spring. And I’m still kicking myself for not scooping up more colors, because I’ve darned near run these things into the ground by wearing them so often!  Which is so funny, because I used to be a hoarder when it came to items I really loved.  I’d save them for “special occasions” for fear of wearing them out too soon.  Over the past few years, I’ve become quite the opposite.  If I find something I really like, I’ll wear it over and over again (and possibly get it in several colors if it’s really amazing).

And what about you guys? Do you save the things you love and only wear them occasion, or do you wear them every chance you get?
