Closet Confection: Swiss Miss {Swiss Dot Tights + Sweater Dress}

If I ever started a hall of fame for my favorite sweater dresses, this one would definitely be in it. It was one of my very first purchases from asos.com almost 3 years ago, and I’ve been happily bouncing around in it every winter since. I even tossed it into my suitcase last year before jetting off to Paris and topped it off with a beret while trekking around le Marais. This time around, I couldn’t resist showing off my gams in a pair of sheer swiss dot tights and my new ankle booties as I think they add just the right amount of sass to this otherwise sacccharine ensemble. After all, a little sweet mixed with spicy is always a great combo in my book!

Closet Confection: Loungin’ {Flyaway Cardigan + Cozy Socks}

Ripping and running while trying to get over a cold finally caught up with me, and I was forced to slow down and take things easy over the weekend.  I’m still not operating at 100%, but I did feel well enough to snap a few photos and show you guys how I like to lounge around the house during the winter months.  There’s nothing I love more than swathing myself in cozy flyaway cardigans layered over soft flowy tees. Throw in a pair of thick socks and a HUGE mug of hot tea (or cocoa!), and I’m a pretty happy camper.

Speaking of cozy sweaters, I was cutting through the JC Penney’s in Herald Square to get to the train station, when I spotted a sales associate wearing this sweater. I immediately asked her if it was sold in the store and was stoked to find out that it was, AND that it was currently on sale.  This sweater is just about as comfy as my favorite bathrobe which makes it perfect for lounging around the house. It’s also chic enough to toss on with skinny jeans and knee-high boots for running errands around town (which I’ve already done twice in the past week, in case you were wondering).

I’m thinking about heading back to snatch up another one, and below are a few options I’ve got my eye on…

Closet Confection: Saturday in the Park

I woke up early on Saturday morning to grab breakfast on-the-go before trekking to the Greenwich Village Goodwill to try and snag a few bargains during their weekly window sale.  I was hoping to take home a gorgeous Burberry scarf (new with tags!) that I’d spotted a few days before for just $35, but another prudent shopper snatched it up before I had the chance.  Oh well, all’s fair in love and bargains! In any case, I was able to walk away with a pair of mint-condition Stuart Weizman boots as well as a patent leather Miu Miu belt that still had the tags on it. Not too shabby, right?

Before heading home, I swung by Washington Square Park to snap a few pics with my camera and tripod.  I’ve visited this park for years, but I’d never been there this early in the morning and had no idea I’d be in for such a treat!  The park was lightly abuzz with joggers and young families taking their morning stroll, and I even spotted a bride and groom snapping wedding photos on the lawn.  The best part had to be the squirrels – I never knew they could be so friendly.  They would scurry on up to you and eat right out of your hands if you let them. One even tried to climb in my purse!  I also spent at least 10 minutes watching the “pigeon whisperer”. I’m not sure what sort of magic skills this man possessed, but he was able to beckon the birds to him at will just by calling them. I’ve seen people do this with bird seeds and breadcrumbs but never with just the sound of their voice.  It was pretty cool to watch.

Fall in NYC has been so picture perfect and ideal lately, and I’ve been soaking up every minute of it.  Thanks for stopping  by and sharing it with me!
