It seemed like a good idea…

Take the morning ferry over to Nantucket, have a relaxing breakfast at Island Kitchen, and then rent a couple of bikes for a leisurely ride up to ‘Sconset and back. Well, if a hot, sweaty 20-mile roundtrip journey uphill qualifies as leisurely, then we accomplished our goal! But seriously, exploring Nantucket was beautiful and charming, but we got in way over our heads with the bike ride. Luckily, we made it and lived to tell about it. After heading back to the harbor to return our rental bikes, we had a lovely time window-shopping in town and checking out the Whaling Museum. We had fully recuperated by evening (although still a bit sore) and enjoyed a delicious candlelit dinner at Ventuno’s followed by dessert and cocktails at American Seasons.

Fall may officially start tomorrow, but I’m still stuck in a summer state of mind. Is it just me, or does this year seem to be flying by?! I’ll be reluctantly making my fall wardrobe switch over the next couple of weeks, but it’s still so lovely to sit back and reminisce about my trip to Cape Cod earlier this month.

After our EPIC Alaska vacation, I thought we were done traveling for a while. But that was only until I found an amazing deal on JetBlue – just $200 roundtrip for 2 people to fly out of JFK into Cape Cod! We had an amazing time relaxing, chowing down on seafood, and enjoying the Cape in the slightly off-season. The weather was gorgeous, and not nearly as crowded as it is during the height of summer. We stayed at the SeaCoast Inn in Hyannis which was just a 5-minute walk from the ferry port and served as the perfect launching point for day trips to Nantucket and Martha’s Vineyard.

On this particular day, we rented a car and drove up to Provincetown to explore the protected lands of the Cape Cod National Seashore on one of Art’s Dune Tours. We had a fantastic time playing in the sand, learning about the local artist shack residency program, and sampling a few wild berries along the way! I somehow allowed Eric talk me into climbing the 252-foot tower at Pilgrim Monument, but the incredible views up top more than made up for the trek. Afterwards, we settled in for a cozy romantic dinner at The Red Inn before heading back to Hyannis.

More details about the rest of our trip coming up soon!
