Who knew that a bright yellow blazer could become such a wardrobe staple?!  I bought this cheery little jacket last week, and I just can’t seem to take it off.  I was a little skeptical when I tried it on in the store.  But once I got home, I was amazed at how many outfits I was able to build around it.

While I still crave variety in my sartorial choices, lately I’ve been on a mission to eliminate the unnecessary fluff in my wardrobe.  To that end, I tossed/donated 4 ridiculously large bags of items over the weekend and set two rules for all new purchases:

  1. One -In/One-Out: For every new item that enters my wardrobe, an old one must go!
  2. Three Times the Fun: Each new item must go with at least 3 other things in my wardrobe.

I still have a bit more purging to do, but I can’t even begin to tell you how great it feels to cut the crap and just be left with the items you love!

Am I the only one who’s been bitten by the spring cleaning bug, or are any of you cleaning out your closets as well?  Also, I’d love to hear if anyone else employs any neat tricks or guidelines for justifying new purchases.

Spring is so close that I can almost taste it!  I am so over bulky winter jackets and dark colors that it’s not even funny.  Going into stores these days and seeing all of the beautiful bright prints and frivolous frocks makes me even more anxious to usher in a new season.  While I certainly don’t want to jump the gun and do a full wardrobe switch, I’ve slowly started incorporating more warm-weather pieces into my daily outfits.  I can’t believe how good it feels to wear pastels again!

Yes, it’s true… I succumbed to yet another Target Designer Collaboration.  What can I say?  I’m a creature of habit. At least you can always find some Target promotional codes to help save money. Now that’s smart shopping!

Since there are only a smattering of Target stores in NYC (and past experience has taught me that the most coveted items would be snatched up within minutes), I opted to wake up extra early and snag a few pieces online.  As it turns out, bleary-eyed shopping is not the brightest idea for me.  My brain was too foggy to properly whittle down my selections, and I wound up purchasing a whopping 4 dresses!  One of them will most definitely be going back, and I’m still undecided on another.

This one is definitely a keeper, but you’ll have to wait for a recap of my upcoming vacation to see what else I got!

In a completely unplanned turn of events, I’m posting my third blue outfit in a row this week.  Let’s see how long I can keep up the blue streak!

I ordered this sweater online the day the Missoni for Target collection became available (before the infamous site crash).  Unfortunately I got an email the following day stating the item was on backorder, and I didn’t receive it until about a week ago.  To be honest, I was a little nervous about its arrival.  Why?  Because in the month or so that I waited for my sweater to ship, I saw numerous people wearing some of the other pieces in real life and… let’s just say I was less than impressed.

Fortunately, I wound up really liking my sweater once it finally arrived.  The quality is pretty decent, and the design is kind of funky and unusual (especially the sleeves, which I LOVE).  I have to admit that I’m glad most of the other items were already sold out when I made my purchase, because I think I could have easily gotten caught up in the frenzy and overspent on some lackluster pieces.  And let’s be real guys, I’d much rather scour eBay and score an authentic vintage or second-hand Missoni piece (like this scarf).

And what about you all?  Did you purchase anything from this collection, and if so, how do you feel about it now that the madness has died down?

If you’ve been following my blog for a while, you know that I looove Target’s GO International designer collaborations.  So imagine my excitement when I learned that they would be reissuing 34 dresses from 17 past designers in celebration of the project’s 5th Birthday!

Last December, when Target announced that they were looking for a few “Dress Obsessed” ladies to showcase their favorite GO International dresses from years past, I immediately jumped at the chance to help usher in their online campaign.

I will definitely be sitting by my keyboard on midnight March 13th to scoop up some favorites that I missed out on the first time around. But in the mean time you can check out the fun by visiting the newly relaunched Target Style site on Facebook.  While there, you can check out fashion and beauty trends, style advice and inspiration and even upload your own pics featuring you rockin’ your favorite GO International dress.

Ranging from $24.99 to $44.99, the GO International Designer Collective will be available March 13 through April 10, 2011 at most Target stores and Target.com. The limited-edition collective features dresses from Luella Bartley, Tara Jarmon, Paul & Joe, Behnaz Sarafpour, Proenza Schouler, Libertine, Alice Temperley, Erin Fetherston, Jovovich-Hawk, Rogan, Richard Chai, Jonathan Saunders, Thakoon, Tracy Feith, Rodarte, Zac Posen (my personal favorite) and Tucker.
