Headphones are my saving grace whenever I’m traveling around the city.  While I love the hustle and bustle that defines NYC, sometimes I prefer to be in my own little sound-proof bubble, impervious to the screech of subway trains and screaming toddlers.  I also love the idea of having my own personal soundtrack that fits the mood of my surroundings.  And since New York has such a diverse mix of enclaves, my playlist has become a random mix of everything from Cool Jazz to Yé-yé and from Classical Music to Bachata, with a little bit of Motown and nauseatingly cloying pop music thrown in for good measure.  But when I really want to just tune out and retreat into my own thoughts, I also rely on my beloved White Noise app.

And what about you guys, what’s on your playlist?
